Missed call text back for plumbing shops: count your missed calls first with a free checklist
Missed call text back texts a caller when nobody picks up. Before a plumbing shop pays for it, it should know how many calls it misses and when. Our free checklist helps you count them.
What is missed call text back?
Software that sends an automatic text to a caller when nobody picks up, so the caller hears back in seconds instead of calling the next plumber. We explain it here; we do not sell it or send texts.
Whether it helps depends on facts you may not have yet. A shop that misses a few calls a month has a different problem from a shop that misses a few calls a day. A shop where most missed calls come after closing needs a different answer from one where they pile up at lunch, when the whole office is out.
Is missed call text back worth it for a plumbing shop?
It depends on how many calls you miss and when. A shop that misses a few calls a month probably does not need it; a shop that misses several a day, mostly after hours, might.
- Missed calls per week. Is it five or fifty? The answer decides whether any tool is worth its monthly fee.
- When they happen. Calls missed at 5 pm on a Tuesday need a different fix than calls missed on a Sunday night.
- What happened next. A missed call that rang back and booked is not a lost job. A missed caller who never booked with you is.
Your phone system already holds the first number. Your field software already holds the third. Nobody has put them side by side. We build plumbing reports from the software you already use for exactly that.
What does the full audit count?
Five numbers from last month's call log, matched to your jobs in the full audit: missed calls, after-hours share, repeat callers, callers who never became customers, and your busiest missed hour.
- Missed calls
- Every inbound call nobody answered.
- After-hours share
- How many of those came in outside your open hours.
- Repeat callers
- People who called more than once before anyone picked up.
- Never became a customer
- Missed callers with no job in your field software afterwards.
- Busiest missed hour
- The hour of the week where most of your missed calls pile up.

What do I need before adding text-back?
Carrier registration (A2P 10DLC), customer consent under the TCPA, a person who answers the replies, and a way to measure the result.
- Registration. US carriers require business texting to be registered (A2P 10DLC), and may block traffic that is not. Talk to your provider about registration. We are not a texting provider.
- Consent. Rules on texting customers (TCPA) cover who you may text and what they agreed to. Get that right before the first message goes out. This is not legal advice.
- An owner for replies. Someone who reads the answers and acts on them the same day. A text nobody answers is worse than silence.
- A measurement. Run the same count again after a month and compare it to your baseline.
